Paul, Catherine and Gary welcome you to our traditional country pub:
The 15th Century Royal Inn is located on the Tamar Trail in the beautiful Tamar valley just over the border from Cornwall. The Inn was once a nunnery and stands near the ancient Horsebridge, which was built over the River Tamar in 1437 by French Benedictine monks. The monks stayed on the site of the pub & a building was erected about 50 years after the bridge .The nunnery became a pub after Henry the Eighth’s dissolution of the monasteries and was named The Packhorse Inn.
