WHAT: HCP Pregnant and Parenting Teen Project Meeting
WHEN: Noon, Wednesday April 20
WHERE: North Block Common, 115 N. Missouri Ave. Or on Zoom
1. The new Rogers County Community Health Partnership Project for Pregnant and Parenting Teens is launched at this meeting. The goal is to help teen parents graduate from high school and develop a plan for a successful career and family, transforming their lives and those of their children.
2. Topics to discuss include 1. Working with Claremore Public Schools and community organizations to find a solution 2. What services/support are needed and what is already available 3. What challenges do we face to help stay pregnant and parenting teens at school?
3. This event is a volunteer opportunity for community members looking to get involved in and around the city. Attendees will meet members of the HCP Board of Directors and learn what is happening to help local youth.
In 2019, Oklahoma had the fourth highest teenage birth rate in the nation. Teenage pregnancy can make up for the life of both the teen and the child and put them both in dangerous situations. This event aims to help reduce the number of teenage girls forced to drop out of school and help pregnant and parenting teens have a better future for themselves and their children.
