Marie C. Chetwynde, 98, of Salem, NH, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, at High Pointe Hospice House after a brief illness.
She grew up in Everett, MA, the daughter of the late Clementina (Zuretti) and Carlo Foppiano. Ever since she was a young girl, she looked forward to being a mom and she was a devoted mother and grandmother who was cherished by her family. She was avid gardener and loved taking care of her home. Marie has won numerous City of Salem awards for her beautiful gardens and Christmas decorations. She liked to make ceramics.
Marie was able to live alone for many years thanks to the generosity of her neighbours. Marie’s family would like to thank you for taking such good care of her, mowing her lawn, shoveling and for the many trips to the bank or the store. You really are an amazing group.
Marie will be sadly missed by her daughter, Linda D’Elia of Toms River, NJ; his sister, Jean Walsh of Lawrence, MA; his 4 grandchildren Todd Daigle, Tammy Rogers, Carey Zdanowicz and Courtney Eisenman; his 7 great-grandchildren, Kaitleen, Max, Melissa, Zachary, Mia, Maggie and Mark Anthony as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Dominic Ferrera and Kenneth Chetwynde, her daughter, Gail M. Daigle and her siblings, Ruth Penfield, Charles Fopiano and Richard Foppiano.
There are no public services. Arrangements are in the custody of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH 03079.
