Police call for information following reports of sexual assault in Northumberland

Two women were sexually assaulted in the city’s Hirst Park neighborhood.

It was reported that an unknown man approached the teenage girls and attempted to hug one of them before touching her on the back and buttocks without her consent.

He then approached the second of the two and lifted her top to expose her chest before grabbing her waist and trying to pull her towards him.

Police have launched a call for information following reports of sexual assault at Hirst Park in Ashington.

The assailant then left the scene.

Both victims were shocked by the incident and immediately contacted the police.

Since the launch of an investigation, police have spoken to a number of potential witnesses and CCTV footage of the area has been examined.

Officers are now releasing an image of an adult male they would like to track down who was in the area at the time and who has information that could aid the ongoing investigation.

The incident took place shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, although details were not released until November 6.

The suspect is described as being Caucasian, between 30 and 40 years old, 5 inches 9 inches tall with short brown hair.

He was wearing a dark green T-shirt, jeans and a blue hoodie at the time.

The man in question, or anyone who may know him, is urged to immediately contact Northumbria Police via the Force’s website Tell Us Something page, citing the newspaper: NP-20211013-1053.
