The ancient Vietnamese city of Hoi An voted 20th best city in the world by the famous American magazine

QUẢNG NAM (Vietnam), July 18 (Bernama): Hoi An, the ancient city located in the central province of Quang Nam in Vietnam has been voted the 20th best city in the world by the readers of the American magazine Travel + Leisure.

Readers ranked the city based on factors including hotel and restaurant quality, cultural heritage, attractions, cuisine and COVID-19 protocols, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The ancient city was included in Travel+Leisure’s Best Cities list for 2019 for the first time.

Hoi An was an active international trading port from the 16th to 19th centuries, attracting merchant ships from China and Japan, as well as being a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Recently, Dubai-based Time Out magazine also listed Hoi An as one of the “best places” to travel in July in hot weather.

“As monsoon rains fall on Hanoi and HCM City, savvy travelers in Vietnam are heading to the central coast where the weather is dry and hot,” the magazine said.

In the category of the 25 best islands in the world this year, Phú Quốc in the southern province of Kiên Giang ranks 14th.

Besides destinations, Vietnam also has two accommodation establishments included in Travel+Leisure’s World’s Best Awards in 2022.

Six Senses Côn Đảo, in the southern province of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu, ranks 51st.

The American magazine also distinguished the Capella Hà Nội hotel in the top 15 of the best city hotels in Asia. – Bernama
