Horror flick “Smile” continues to dominate at the box office, putting a whole new spin on the universal sign of happiness. And, I mean this with all due respect, a town in New England may be doing the same thing, because it was just named one of the “smileiest” towns in all of the United States. United.

According HouseFresh.com website, Worcester, Massachusetts, is not only filled with more smiles than any town in New England; it’s among the 20 happiest cities in all of the United States

Now I have a lot of respect for Worcester. It brought me a lot of smiles as a kid when I saw The Undertaker take out his anger towards the cucumbers on WWE Superstars at Worcester Centrum.

Worcester is also the hometown of comedian Denis Leary, who brought us countless smiles. But even Denis can verify that he only smoked his trademark cigarette after hearing this news.

Worcester? Smile ? Besides…any big city in New England? Smile ??

Like most things these days, it all comes down to analytics, especially data acquired using social media. HouseFresh.com used Microsoft’s facial recognition technology to analyze selfies taken in the United States

From there, they tracked a database of Instagram selfies in every state and the nation’s 100 largest cities to see which places are the happiest places to live. Sadly, no New England city or town made the “happiest” list that topped Concord, California.

But when it came to the smile list (again, leading Concord), there was Worcester at number 18 behind Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and ahead of Denton, Texas.

This seems to be part of a happy trend for the Bay State, as Cambridge has recently been named the best city to raise a family in the United States and second safest for Trick-or-Treating.

Who knows what drives residents to move from Massholes to Pilgrins. Maybe people are just happy to be outside again, or maybe it’s all the evil spirits that have tired of the harsh Salem winters and emigrated to Florida.

Move over, Disney World, Kimball’s Legendary Farm, it’s 50 acres of family fun time in Massachusetts

Kimball Farm in Westford, MA is like the Disney of the North Shore, with over 50 acres of fun activities for the whole family.
